In-state LB visits Capstone

Sweet Water linebacker Chris Landrum may play for a small high school but he's receiving attention from some of the biggest college programs in the nation, including the defending national champions at Alabama. The Crimson Tide extended an offer to Landrum recently and this week the 6-foot-2, 215-pound defender visited a spring practice session in Tuscaloosa.

"First I got to sit in on some position meetings and then I got to watch the whole team practice," Landrum said. "After practice I got to talk to Coach Saban and also Coach Pendry and Coach Smart. They talked to me about general stuff about the program but also about how I would specifically fit into the program. They think I could play either of the two inside linebacker spots and maybe even play outside as well."

Landrum said he was already familiar with the Tide's football facilities and the reputation of their coaching staff before taking the visit, but came away with a new perspective on what the program has to offer.

"I already knew Alabama was a top notch program as far as their facilities and their coaches but getting to see how things work there in person really gave me a different appreciation for them and made me understand why they have been so successful. Their coaches are really demanding of their players but at the same time they give the players everything they need to be the best."

"Alabama takes care of its players whether its the training, the academic program or anything else those guys need to succeed. I also really like the tradition of the program and I think that really sets them apart from everybody else."

According to Landrum, all four of the schools that have offered him are even at the moment and Landrum has no immediate plans to narrow his list down or make a final decision anytime soon.

"Right now, I'm just focused on taking visits and learning as much as I can about every program that has offered me. Whenever it feels right, I will make my decision. I really don't have any specific time set for making that decision."

"I don't have anything else planned for this spring but I will probably go to some camps this summer as well as taking a bunch more unofficial visits."

As a junior, Landrum was selected first-team All-State by the Alabama Sports Writers Association.
