The G Braves Corner Infield Report!

Glaus

At Bat #1 ? tough strikeout looking as strike 3 was very borderline
At Bat #2 ? looked bad striking out swinging
At Bat #3 ? soft ground ball hit b/t 3rd and short that the ss dove and got to, had he come up with it cleanly probably would have thrown glaus out, but he gets a hit anyway. Did run hard on the bases going 1st to 3rd on a single
At Bat #4 ? jumped on a first pitch fastball and hit an absolute bomb of a HR hit to center, maybe 415, looked like May Troy Glaus
At Bat #5 ? 7 pitch walk

Defensive Play #1 ? easy little medium speed grounder to his left slightly tossed to first for the out
Defensive Play #2 ? had to range to his left and made a little more difficult 5-3 out
Defensive Play #3 ? decently hard hit ball to his left about a step, he never got in front of the ball, was trying to glove it as he wasn’t even looking at it, and the ball just fell right out of his glove for an error. Runner eventually scored
Defensive Play #4 ? ball hit hard to his right, not a great chance but he didn’t even try, dropped the ball coming in from the outfield
Defensive Play #5 ? medium grounder to the right of him maybe 4 feet, couldn’t get down in time to get the ball, glanced off his glove into left. 2 runs score on the play with two outs already in the inning
Defensive Play #6 ? ball hit a little to his left, did not even try to make an attempt at it, drew tons of boos for this one, the kind of play prado, Conrad, infante, even chipper probably make 80% of the time at least and he didn’t even try

Summary: One masterful home run shot, one weak infield hit, one walk, 2 strikeouts, and an awful, awful defensive night. I can’t tell if he physically just can’t get to these balls or he just doesn’t try or both, but 2 days in and it’s not looking good at third.

I heard he had a rough night at third. He went down to try and prove himself to Wren so I'm sure he was trying. It sounds like his knees are just not allowing him to be productive there.

If this is accurate, then there is no reason why we should see him in an Atlanta Braves uni ever again. Thanks for your help in May and June and good luck to ya.

option as a power bat off the bench or to spot play at first to give Lee's old back a day off.

WIth the way Lee has hit the ball since coming over last week from the Cubs, we may need Glaus back at first. Hopefully Lee will settle in and stop striking out, but only time will tell.
