I think Auburn could get out of paying Chiz if he knew about the violations. If his coaches were involved in any improprieties I'm sure Chiz knew what was happening. Keep in mind that Chiz was under tremendous pressure to compete with the great one in recruiting.

Mike Ratta is reporting that if the NCAA is investigating then his salary is suspended and if there is a conviction then the contract can be voided.  Not sure Mike is the sharpest tool in the shed but I just saw that on local news.

Does the article and new information ( not that it is really new ) about the Barn being under the NCAA watch cause AU to immediately go to the second tier of coaching wish list?

Doubt it, because Jay Jacobs wanted Chizik to return next year as recently as a week or two ago, That tells me that people at Auburn dont expect much of anything to come from this investigation

I am not sure what the insiders on this board are saying, but I subscribe to another site. They are saying the following things:

Auburn has not received a LOI from the NCAA

Trooper and Luper being taken off the road is related to some secondary violations, not anything major. I know Trooper has been taken off before because of secondary violations

If you look at yahoo report it gave very little information in the way of specific allegations. Claimed some PE teacher gave Javon a ride to Auburn. Mentioned his grade changes. Claimed the NCAA was looking into other things but gave no specifics

Great question. Was listening to Finebaum yesterday and he said it very well could. We'll just have to wait and see if/when more details come out. Do y'all think Jacobs is safe?
