bammers like to brag how awesome they have been under Saban. However, without the good ole fashion luck of Colt McCoy getting injured in 2009 and backing into the championship game last year without winning the western division, bammer would likely be sitting here with 1 sec championship and zero national championships in Saban's  6th year

Saban's run at bammer proves the old saying true. Sometimes being lucky is just as important or more important than being good

And your team is where?  Talk about luck, take away Cam and you guys would still be searching for an identity.

Who's your next coach?

OP....Everyone....and I mean every AU fan I know admits that AU caught lightning in a bottle in 2010.  Last year and this years performance by AU confirms it.

Now about Saban.  You are the only one I have ever heard that suggest that UA's success under Saban is luck.

Not your best post sir!

This is false because I have seen plenty of people on these boards that think bammer would have lost to Texas if Colt McCoy would have stayed healthy. I have also seen plenty of people who think bammer didnt belong in the championship game last year

Again,  Cam was a beast but we had 5 drafted and Cam didn't, play defense but Blanc, Carter, Bates, Fairley, Clayton, etc did.  Cam didn't win the Lombardi Award that year, Fairley did.

most seem to think Cam can hit the field by himself and take over a game.

It is a reasonable discussion whether AU was lucky in 2010 or not but it really is silly to suggest that UA/Saban's success is luck.  The man works harder than any other coach.  Work does not equal luck.

How can anybody call a 14-0 Auburn team in 2010 lucky?  I don't think it is a reasonable discussion at all.

I think Bama getting into the NC game last year was a lot more lucky than the 2010 AU team.  A rematch after a loss with LSU?

During your 14-0 run you had a ton of luck.  Good teams get their fair share of luck.

Saban's/UA's body of work does not equal luck.  Nothing lucky about being a blue blood winner in multiple decades.

Tell me about the 'ton of luck' the 2010 AU team had?   I gotta hear about this luck.

No doubt Saban is a
good coach but he has not been this 'blue blood winner' wherever he has been.

I guess Saban has been lucky 3 different times and at 2 different schools. Boy, that is LUCKY.

How did Colt get hurt again? Did he slip and hurt himself running out of the tunnel before the game?

People who have a winning attitude, which the OP would know nothing about, realize that you create your own luck. You control what you can control and you don't worry about the rest. Victims OTOH, claim they got screwed by something.....in this case they got screwed by lady luck. Poor, poor calhoun.

There's not an ounce of luck in what won the 2009, 2010 or 2011 championships to their respective teams. Luck, as you call it, is when preparation meets opportunity. Stop being a loser and stop blaming some mystical power when things don't go the way you wish they would and you'll stop being so angry and frustrated all the time. JMO

The luck Saban has gotten really has been amazing, but his national championship at LSU might have been the luckiest of them all. He backed into the title game after losing to a mediocre Florida team by two or three touchdowns in the regular season. He also got to play an Oklahoma team who lost to Kansas State something like 45-7 in their conference championship game instead of having to play an USC team who was ranked #1 in both the AP poll and coaches poll

This. Did Auburn 2010 have some lucky moments? Sure, but they were exploited by a good, talented team. Luck is an intangible that doesn't amount to much unless a team is prepared to take advantage of it.

I did not see 'lucky moments' in the 2010 AU team.   Execution on a 4th down play to pick up the 1st down is not luck.   Running down field and punching the ball out of an RBs hold and out of the end zone is exceptional defensive effort, not luck.  Executing an onside kick to perfection is not luck.

That's fine. See what you choose to see. I've found that most great teams caught a few breaks along the way, but being in a position to maximize them is what made them great. That's not a flame BTW, just reality. And it is just as true with Alabama as it is with Auburn.

Because Saban is the only great college coach who wasn't great in the NFL? Personally I'm sort of glad it didn't work out but in hindsight, I'm betting you wish he would have lasted another year or two.

What a funny thread. You know, with the way the season is going for Auburn and with the way the future looks, you can't help but feel bad for some Auburn fans. Others, like the OP....notsomuch. How bad does it suck to be reduced to marginalizing big brothers success as luck because you simply have nothing good to say about your own program? Not even you calhoun, a total moron, can make your typical blue and orange tinted comparisons. Wow, right? No worries man, this is rock bottom.....probably.

Not from me SS. I don't feel the need to call you cheaters when you win and calhoun is my little brother whether Auburn wins or loses. For damn sure, when you're winning, he isn't talking about luck. When Auburn is on top, he's making comparisons and picking selective time frames just like a good little brother would. FTR, I wasn't talking to your entire base; rather just one guy.

Finally, I think you're above all that and certainly above the Prothro thing and death wish in the other thread. I can talk football with you and that's just not possible with calhoun which is why I said what I said. If you disagree and you think I'm wrong about him, we can just agree to disagree.

Dude you are the definition of a little brother. Yes, you might be able to talk about legit subjects at times. However, your main purpose on this board has always been to  police any derogatory threads about bammer. You are also incapable of leaving an Auburn message board because then somebody might say something bad about your precious bammer and you wouldnt be here to correct them or to whine about it. That screams little brother as much as anything I have ever seen in my entire life

It's build on cheating and always will be. He went to the nfl where you can't cheat and got his nuts dusted and then found a place where cheating was a way of life and there he sets. It will soon end when he gets the 10 mil. Then the 4 letter people will be calling on the toothless nation again, so 17 out 20 years on probation grow.

There are a few on Orangebloods that believe we would have won in 09 had McCoy not been hurt, but I am not one of those. You just can't assume that.  It would have been a damn good game, and one we would have like to have seen, but who's to say that Bama would have successfully made adjustments and won anyway?  Just the breaks.

Good post zigzag. If Colt hadn't been hurt (in the course of this game fwiw) and we had won anyway, a certain segment would still find another excuse for why that title shouldn't count. It just comes with the territory I guess and I can live with it.

Sybil, your worst nightmare has come true if UA wins out.

Poor, poor Sybil. Please take pity on your goat.

The worst nightmare would probably be Georgia winning out. They would be just as arrogant and obnoxious as bammers if they had something to brag about. They just dont have much to brag about because they only have 1 national championship in a major poll in their entire history

Saban's run at bammer proves the old saying true. Sometimes being lucky is just as important or more important than being good

Everything you post is built on stupidity. And the 2012 Auburn Tigers are built on SUCK!

Some luck yes, but plenty of teams were in position to take advantage of luck and didn't.  Championship teams do that every year including 2010.  If Mark Barron hadn't torn his pec in that game it is a different story.  But he did and AU took advantage, and won a well-earned title.

ohsfan, I would bet that Colt McCoy would tell you that it was something besides luck that knocked him out of the game in 2009, and I'm sure any player on the # 1 tiger team would confirm who the NC belonged to after the NC game  in 2012.  Great teams make their on luck, you might tell your team about that.    RTR
