us completely swept by the Phillies and we will be 10 games back come October and half a dozen behind the Giants. A friggin complete collapse by the Braves. Giving up 2 of 3 to the Nats at home. Not a playoff team at this point.

If the Marlins show up against the Braves and win the series, I'll be furious.
In a ten day span they have lost to the Phils SIX out of 7 times. Got swept at home (unless they pull some comeback that won't happen). Of course, they play the Braves and they can't be beat.
Yeah the Phils are on top of their game and one of the two or three best teams at the moment (Rockies and Twins), but that's just absurd when the Marlins haven't been playing THAT poorly.
I don't even want to go into the Braves figures: losing multiple series against the Pirates and the Nationals (at home!) just isn't the way to make the playoffs.

"They had one major opportunity they took advantage of," Matt Diaz quote regarding today's GS.
Yes, that is how you make the the playoffs, win pennants and WS. You take advantage of opportunities given to you down the stretch.
Doubled up the Nats in hits, and shut them out for 8 innings. But you gotta take advantage and swing for the fences sometimes. Can't always play small ball and shoot for the singles each and every AB. That was for the dogdays.

My bad. I expected this thread to be about the Cardinals! The Cardinals should have just quit playing after the series with the Reds a month and a half ago. They are a waste of the NL Centrals time.
