Former Auburn fullback Heath Evans recently said to ESPN 97.3 in Birmingham : "I saw this coming and nobody wanted to believe me. ... Discipline, structure, accountability, and most importantly, mental and physical toughness. It's non-existent. It's absolutely pathetic, and I know those are harsh words, but see, the thing about mental and physical toughness is, they're created. They really are. I can show you the man that looks the biggest and the toughest, and most likely, I can put him in some circumstances where he'd crumble. Great coaches know how to make great men, and they're built."

Heath hits the nail on the head.

I heard that.  It was from the heart and you could tell he was in pain.  I pull hard for my team and quitely cheer against you guys at times but we are in new territory and it is no longer fun pulling against you.  More fun when you are relevant.  I hope you take this as it was meant.....no flame.

BS!   You love it and you know you do!

I took great joy in watching AU hang 6 straight W's on bama back when bama was rotating coaches like a turnstile in grand central station.  You gotta be lovin' it.  I know I would.

I grew up in Bama. So, half my family are Bama fans. They don't even say anything to me anymore. While I am sure they are loving this, it's no fun even for them to make jokes anymore, it's gotten that sad.

Its is so sad, that I just go to UTC games rather than watch Auburn .
It's so bad that if I do happen to be home, I can't watch more than a couple of series of this mess.
I had more fun watching Bama vs TAMU than I have any game all year, period.

Heath was right, they have no discipline, no heart, no fight, no determination, nothing. If only half these guys were close to the rankings they received coming out of high school, they should have more fight in them than this. Van Gorder talks about needing Bigger guys, but hell, you don't have to be big to have some fight in you. We have a few big guys, but they are not fighting either. This team has no Leadership, and I am not talking about the players, I am talking about the coaching staff, right at the top Mr. Gene Chizik.

He has to go. I wish him luck, lots of luck, but elsewhere. You just can't do this.
When you are paid 3.5 million per year, you just can't mail it in for a whole year and hope for better luck next year, ask any high paid CEO.

If I had seen any, and I mean any improvement in the play of this team, just a little fight in them, I would support giving Gene one more year, but we don't really even fight hard against the likes of New Mexico State for heavens sake, 7-0 at halftime, give me a break.

It is unbelievable how far removed we are from the hard hitting, slobber-knocking teams of Pat Dye, and even Tuberville fielded harder hitting teams and better defense than this. There simply is NO excuse for The Auburn Tigers to be this horrible at football, EVER.

That's where you miss the point. It is more fun when you are competitive but we beat you anyway. We lead the series and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future.

Naaaaaa...   a beat down is great.  Those 11 sacks on ole Crusty Bryole in 85' was fun to watch.   Yall might get 11 in t-town this year.

85? As in 1985? I thought we won that one.

Anyway, sure a beatdown is fun, but its a lot more fun when your opponent has a winning record. We can probably name the score for the IB this year but nobody will care - its expected.

If you were coming into the game with a 9-2 record, everyone would watch thinking you could knock us out of the SECCG...and to have you dominated in that situation would be a lot more fun.

^^^this....I just can't even mess with my Auburn buddies anymore. It's not funny to kick a man when he's down. That's not pity, it's just common human decency. If a guy is just a Auburn football fan and doesn't care about the university, that would be different but some of us actually love the university AND the teams.

I'm really not loving this though, it's actually just painful to watch especially not knowing for certain that it will end anytime soon. The SEC is better when the core 6 SEC teams are at least competitive (8-4 or so) and with UT and Auburn so bad this year, other conferences can point to that and pretend the rest of our conference teams are only good because......

You are wrong.  Had lunch with Barn friend this week.  In the past we would gig each other for 5 minutes and then get caught up on work and family.  This time not a word mentioned about football.  Where AU is in football and a lot of sports is historical and is painful to watch.  I promise you the first half of this season was a lot more fun watching you guys than the last half.
