OK State scores again in signing period
Ibrahima Thomas of Stoneridge Prep in California is one of those guys. And he'll be very good in the Big 12. The senior is headed to Oklahoma State.Every year there are those guys that have coaches saying, "He'll be very good two, three, four years from now."
Thomas, a 6-foot-11 forward, verbally pledged to the Cowboys late Monday night, according to Stoneridge director Mike Mahoney.
The Cowboys are getting an athletic big man who can run the floor, rebound and shoot like a wing. Still raw, Thomas is a work in progress but he has the skill set that projects well at the next two levels.
"Oklahoma State is getting an extremely skilled wing player that is an excellent outside shooter. Thomas' skill, length and versatility fits well with the style of play Coach Sutton utilizes," Stoneridge head coach," Babacar Sy said.
"Ibrahima has a huge upside given his rapidly evolving physical maturity. He is equally adept at stepping out to shoot a 3-pointer as he is at posting up around the basket."
Thomas visited Stillwater in late October and will sign with the Cowboys during the early signing period, Mahoney said. Thomas joins James Anderson as the second player to pick Oklahoma State during the signing period.
Thomas visited Auburn last weekend and also considered Fresno State and Rutgers.
"This is a perfect situation for me at Oklahoma State. The great academics, basketball tradition and Coach Sutton and his staff were just what I was looking for in a school," Thomas said.
