October 2, 2006Auburn senior offensive guard Tim Duckworth has been named the Southeastern Conference's Offensive Lineman of the Week, the league office announced Monday.
Duckworth participated in 55 plays in No. 2 Auburn's 24-17 victory over South Carolina Thursday in Columbia. He accumulated a season-high six pancakes to go along with two cockroach blocks. He was graded at 98 percent overall for the game, also a season-best for the Taylorsville, Miss., native.
He was part of an offensive line that helped running back Kenny Irons rush for 117 yards on 27 carries, scoring twice on 1-yard runs.
In five games this season, Duckworth has already totaled 16.5 pancakes, six cockroach blocks and six rodeo blocks. He has graded better than 90 percent three times.
It is the first weekly honor of Duckworth's career and the sixth time an Auburn offensive lineman has been recognized by the SEC since 2004. Senior Ben Grubbs was named the conference's Offensive Lineman of the Week Sept. 11 after Auburn's 34-0 win over Mississippi State.
The Tigers have now earned five weekly honors from the SEC, one for each game of the season. Also having been honored are Irons (Offensive Player of the Week on Sept. 4), Kody Bliss (Special Teams * Sept. 18) and Matt Clark (Special Teams * Sept. 25).
Duckworth and the Tigers now set their focus on SEC West rival Arkansas, which visits Pat Dye Field at Jordan-Hare Stadium Saturday at 11 a.m. CT. The game will air live on CBS.
