August 16, 2004Southlake (Texas) Carroll quarterback Chase Daniel earned his way in to the EA SPORTS Elite 11 Quarterback camp after a solid showing at the EA regional workout in Texas and then a pair of standout performances at the EA workout in Las Vegas.
There's no question about what Daniel can do on the field. Daniel's junior year was his first playing quarterback for Carroll and all he did was throw for3,681 yards and 42 touchdowns, rush for 1,529 yards and 18 more scores and earn State Player of the Year honors after leading his team to the state title game in the highest class of football in the state.
Here's our final, post-camp recap of the Missouri bound signal caller:
Daniel was easily one of the most charismatic players to be around all week and his fellow campers really got along well with him. Whether he was wearing a wig and imitating Mark Sanchez or holding the video camera and getting a few of the other quarterbacks on stage to line dance at the Irvine Spectrum, Daniel was a joy to be around.
On the field, Daniel overcame some early nerves and got better every day. He's the kind of quarterback who may not be great at any one thing, but is good at every facet of the game. He plays in a system that uses the shot gun 100% of the time to take advantage of his running ability so he wasn't used to taking so many drops but he got better at it every day.
In fact, Daniel was one of the most improved quarterbacks during the camp and will continue to improve with his ability to make his reads and go through his progressions. Missouri, with the way they let their quarterbacks run and throw, is a perfect fit for what Daniel does well and there's no player we'll be rooting harder for.
