MORE: Class of 2014 Rivals100
The Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas is annually one of the best regional all-star games and the country, and the 2013 edition is shaping up to be one of the most talent-rich in recent years.
Plenty of the college football's current and former stars, including Georgia running back Todd Gurley, South Carolina defensive end Jadeveon Clowney and San Francisco 49ers running back Marcus Lattimore, have participated in the event, and once again organizers released loaded roster during an announcement on Thursday.
Highlighting the roster for the North Carolina squad are five-star running back Elijah Hood (Charlotte Catholic), who is committed to North Carolina, and five-star defensive end Kentavius Street (Greenville Rose), who has offers from schools all over the country.
The South Carolina squad has no shortage of talent either, with four-star prospects littering the roster. Alabama linebacker commit Christian Miller leads the way, with Georgia quarterback commit Jacob Park and four-star South Carolina wide receiver commit Shaq Davidson also on the roster.
With Hood and fellow Rivals250 running back Derrell Scott on the roster, the North Carolina team will have two very good options to rush with. It won't be all running, however - N.C. State quarterback commit Jalan McClendon will have four-star wide receivers Braxton Berrios and Trevion Thompson at his disposal.
Park, who is joined by Oklahoma State commit Mason Rudolph at quarterback on the South Carolina team, will have a pair of four-star weapons to throw to as well in Davidson and Kentucky commit Blake Bone. Kevin Crosby, a four-star South Carolina tight end commit, is also on the South Carolina roster.
Up front, Street will have his hands full when trying to get to Park and Rudolph as four-star Florida commit Nolan Kelleher leads the way for the South Carolina offensive line. Joining him are four-star Donell Stanley, a South Carolina lean, and Georgia Tech commit Jake Whitley.
Other notable members of the North Carolina team include four-star defensive end Lorenzo Featherston, Rivals250 defensive tackle and Georgia commit Lamont Gaillard, four-star N.C. State defensive back commit Germaine Pratt and three-star Clemson linebacker commit Chris Register.
Other notable members of the South Carolina team include four-star Clemson running back commit Jae'lon Oglesby, four-star Florida State defensive line commit Dexter Wideman, four-star South Carolina tight end commit Kalan Ritchie and three star Louisville defensive tackle commit Poona Ford.
The 80 players selected for the event came from a pool of over 400 players who submitted their information to be considered for the game.
The 77th annual Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas game will be played Saturday, Dec. 21 in Spartangburg, S.C. In addition to participating in a week of practice, players will also visit the local Shriners Hospital for Children, which proceeds from the game go to benefit.
