Auburn junior defensive tackle Gabe Wright talks about the progress of winter workouts and whether he was "angry" after a 3-9 season in 2012.
ON WINTER WORKOUTS: Intense. At the same time, it's been -- enjoyable at times, and of course you'll have that tension. You have to sacrifice, that's any good strength program. It's been intense since day one. He (S&C Ryan Russell) puts our standards high and lifted all our goals, as a team, we feel comfortable with that. I know one of the first things he told me is he wants a personal record bell for the weight room for daily use, so when a guy hits a personal record you can ring that bell. As a team, guys want to impress each other -- in a good way. Coach Russell is doing a good job and keeping the standards high.
ON THE NEW COACHING STAFF: There's no negativity, all of it is positive. I'd hope any player would want to bounce back, want to do better. That's what the players want and the coaches want the same.
ANGRY AFTER LAST SEASON? Angry? There was anger after the 'Bama game, of course. But as the weeks went down, if I couldn't us it as a factor -- I'm not going to walk around angry. It's in the back of my head, I know it's a new day and new year, all I can do and the rest of us can do is work towards fixing it. It's not one of those things I can say and it's going to happen. It's not one of those things we can talk about. We're going to have to show it. That's what Auburn is built on, hard work.
