Alabama WR to visit Southern Miss

Earlier today Monken and receivers coach John Wozniak dropped by Spain Park (AL) to talk with talented pass catcher Cade Hoffman.Southern Miss may have just finished the biggest recruiting weekend of the
"Coach Monken and Coach Wozniak came to Spain Park today and talked to me," Hoffman said.
The meeting was a fruitful one for Hoffman as he accepted an invitation to take an official visit to the Hattiesburg campus this coming weekend.
Hoffman jumped at the chance to visit the school where he is very much a legacy. He is the great nephew of legendary Southern Miss two sport star Jim Davenport.
Davenport played both football and baseball for Southern Miss, but was drafted by the San Francisco Giants and has been involved in Major League Baseball ever since. He spent 13 years as a player, playing in the 1962 World Series, later working as a scout, coach and eventually became the club's manager in 1985. Davenport still works the Giants today.
"I grew up watching Southern Miss," Hoffman said. "My uncle was the quarterback when they went to their first bowl game in 1953."
Southern Miss isn't the only program aggressively recruiting Hoffman, South Alabama, MTSU and Troy are showing strong interest.
"I went to the Southern Miss camp in Birmingham this past summer,' he said. "But, that was with the old staff."
Hoffman is an excellent student and well on his way to meeting all NCAA freshman eligibility requirements.
