January 17, 2011STARKVILLE, Miss. - Since his return, Dee Bost has wasted little time making an impact.
In three games, the Mississippi State junior point guard is averaging 16.0 points and 4.0 rebounds and has dished out 21 assists. But it's what he did in wins against Ole Miss and Auburn that earned him SEC player of the week honors on Monday.
In those two contests, the Concord, N.C., native averaged 17.0 points, 4.5 rebounds and 8.0 assists.
"I'm just trying to make my team better," Bost said. "We've got a lot of work to do, but it's always nice to be recognized for what you do."
It was the first player of the week recognition for Bost. However, two years ago he was named freshman of the week twice.
Mississippi State (10-7, 2-1) doesn't play again until traveling to Georgia on Jan. 22 in a 3 p.m. showdown that will be televised on the SEC Network. Bost enters the game needing 92 points to become the 33rd player in school history to score 1,000 for a career. He also has 365 assists, the sixth most in school history, while his 106 steals rank 21st all-time.
