August 22, 2010Tight end Brandon Fulse out of Fort Meade (Fort Meade, Florida) is a highly coveted prospect when it comes to college football recruiting.
Blessed with phenomenal size, hands, leaping ability, and speed in the open field, Fulse figures to be a big-time mismatch at the tight end position on the Division 1-A level.
It's no secret why he's attracted so much attention in the recruiting process.
So many college coaches covet his services that his offer list has ballooned to over 20 scholarship offers thus far.
Currently ranked as the 9th best tight end in the country--the likes of Miami(Fl.), Florida, Florida State, Alabama, Oregon, and many others have come calling for his services.
College coaches across the country are holding out hope that the talented tight end will ultimately choose their school.
School officially starts on August 23rd for Fulse and his first game is August 27th against Tenoroc.
HerdNation got the opportunity to catch up with the highly sought after prospect this weekend.
Has the recruiting process grown tiresome for him at all?
"A little bit. When it first started it was kind of fun to get all of the attention. But now, it's settled down and it's getting kind of boring now."
What are his primary factors in terms of choosing a school?
"The relationship with the coaches, the position coaches, depth chart, early playing time, see how fast I can get on the field."
"Just around campus, it must feel like home."
Did he consider Marshall at one-point?
But they are no longer in the race, correct?
"I haven't cut anybody from my list."
"That's just my top 7-10. They could slip back up there, but right now they are not in the top."
Biggest things he needs to work on getting ready for next season and the next level:
"Toughness, because my coach, (Jemelle Cornelius), he played for Florida when they won the national championship so he knows everything about the college level."
"So that's the first thing they try to look for is to build toughness in a player. I'm going to try to do that and get that down."
"On the football field, coming off the ball and running my routes, running routes better."
Is there any kind of tight end or receiver he tries to model his game after?
"Jeremy Shockey and Kellen Winslow."
How are his grades in the classroom?
"I have a 3.2 GPA." He said he plans on retaking the SAT, "I'm going to take that over again and try and get that a little higher."
