Coaches flock to see Rivals100 DB
A prospect that has really shot up the recruiting rankings over the past couple of months is Atlanta (GA) Booker T. Washington athlete Branden Smith. Things started off slow for Smith, but they have really picked up recently. He has double digit offers and six schools were there to watch him practice on Tuesday.
"Georgia, Alabama, Miami, Auburn, South Carolina, and Virginia Tech came out to watch me on Tuesday," said Smith.
"It was kind of crazy out there. I look over and see coaches nodding their head at me or giving me the peace sign. I did not talk to any of them, but they were all watching me pretty hard."
Rodney Cofield's Bulldogs have been practicing a little over a week, but this was only practice number two for Smith. He is just coming off a second place finish in the 100m (10.56) to potential Olympian DeAngelo Cherry (10.3).
Now, he is back on the practice field with many eyes focused on him. Did those coaches on the sideline make him nervous?
"No sir," he answered, "I just practiced regular out there. I did not think about them - I just do what do out there like any other day. I wasn't worried about them really."
