NOTES: Canes offer another quarterback
Miami continues to expand its search for a quarterback in the Class of 2008. Virginia Beach Bayside standout E.J. Manuel, a pre-evaluation Rivals100 selection and one of the top overall quarterback prospects in the nation, has long held an offer from the Canes, but now and have extended a scholarship offer to a second Virginia signal caller.
Miami offensive coordinator Patrick Nix was at Westfield High School in Centreville (Va.) Thursday and dropped off a scholarship offer for quarterback Mike Glennon.
The 6-foot-6, 190-pounder, who is the brother of Virginia Tech quarterback Sean Glennon, was surprised by the offer.
"Last week, my coach told me that Miami had called and they wanted to call me back, so I called coach Nix and he told me they were going through all their quarterbacks and looking at who they liked," Glennon said. "They had highlights of my sophomore year, but no junior year highlights, so he said he just went on Rivals.com and watched them. He asked if he was interested in them and I told him yes. There was a Miami coach at the Elite College Combine and he told me they liked what they saw there. Then he flew up here to check on me today."
Nix was heading to Virginia Beach to check up on Manuel following his visit to Centreville, according to Glennon.
