Mack talks top five and more
Little Rock (AR) Pulaski Academy offensive guard Parker Mack has recently narrowed down his list of schools that he is interested in. A surprise on that list was Syracuse University.
"It was in the spring that they offered," Mack said. "I was really excited because I knew Syracuse was a great academic school and they have a good football program. I was really excited."
"They obviously care more about school and I am looking for a place that stresses academics over athletics."
Mack, 6-foot-5, 305 pounds was interested right from the start when he received his Orange offer. Now that he has been looking at the Orange for a few months he interest has picked up.
"I like them even more now. I have had a chance to look into them a little. The campus is beautiful, I have seen pictures. I just need to see the campus in person though to get a better point of view."
Right now the Orange have not talked about what position they would like Mack to play, but they told him a very short explanation why they like him.
"They said it was just athleticism."
This spring Mack has visited three schools in his top five and the Orange are not one of them. Even though he has not made it to New York a trip is being planned.
"I do not have a visit scheduled to Syracuse yet, but I plan on visiting."
The three star prospect went on to talk a little bit more about what he likes from his top five schools.
Syracuse: "They take their academics seriously and that is one reason why I chose them for my top five."
Illinois: "They have great academics and I know that they were probably top two or maybe the top public school in the nation and that is a huge selling point."
Wake Forest: "I was able to get p there on an unofficial and communicate with the coaches and see the campus. It was all very beautiful and I loved the coaches and I know that the football program is on the rise."
Vanderbilt: "They are a little close to home while still maintaining all the academics and great football."
Arkansas "They are in state, if I want to stay close to home. The coaching staff there is real nice."
With the narrowing down of his list will a decision soon be following?
"I was thinking more towards making a decision at the end of the season like November."
