Big Cat closes with Toomer's celebration
Auburn's first-ever Big Cat Weekend closed with a bang Saturday night as a number of top recruits made their way to Toomer's Corner for a taste of one of AU's most cherished traditions.
Rolling Toomer's after big athletic wins has been an Auburn tradition for more than 45 years and Saturday night a handful of top high school prospects got to experience it firsthand.
"It was a great experience, something new," said Khairi Fortt, who travelled to Auburn all the way from Stamford, Ct. "I've never visited a college that's done this before. The fans were just great out there. It was just an exciting time for me."
Fortt was one of eight recruits that made it out to Toomer's following an exciting day of events that included pie, cake and watermelon eating contests, and video game competitions.
Joining Fortt at Toomer's were running back Marcus Lattimore, running back Lache Seastrunk, wide receiver Trovon Reed, offensive lineman Eric Mack, linebacker LaDarius Owens, linebacker Jessel Curry and defensive lineman Damien Jacobs.
When word leaked out on internet message boards and facebook that the recruits would be at Toomer's Saturday night, a big crowd turned out.
