Sooners go after another Cali star
While Oklahoma has had some success in California during Bob Stoops' tenure few years have seen the same effort from the Sooner coaching staff on the West coast as the class of 2010. On Tuesday they tossed their hat in the ring with Palmdale, Calif. three-star cornerback Joshua Shaw.
The 6-foot, 165-pound defender says the offer was as much a shock to him as any of the many he has received so far.
"I got some good news man. (The Oklahoma offer) was a surprise all the way. I was at school and came into the coaching offices and there was coach (Bobby Jack) Wright, my coaches told me after I left that he said I had an offer."
Wright was able to catch up with Shaw later and admits that he still has a lot to learn but already likes what the Sooners long-time assistant had to say about Shaw's potential future in Norman.
"I know about their tradition and the success they have year in and year out but as far as education and stuff there is still a lot that I have to look at," he admitted."
