Loganville's Bailey looking all-around fit
Loganville offensive lineman Morgan Bailey is not your typical big bruising line player. Bailey has strong academic goals for his future and the teams that are looking at him are going to have to compete academically as well as athletically.
"I really want to feel comfortable at the school I choose and that will be the biggest thing for me," he said. I need it to feel just like home. Academics are very important because I want to major in Physics."
Bailey already has a couple of fistfuls of offers and expects several more before the end of summer.
"There are a lot of schools coming by to see me," he said. "The one's who have offered me and came by the school are Wake Forest, Clemson, Georgia Tech, Maryland, Kentucky, Vanderbilt, East Carolina, Ole Miss and South Carolina. Some of the schools that talk to me constantly and talk about offering me are Georgia, Mississippi State, FSU and Duke. "
Georgia Tech and Clemson appear to be the current leader for Bailey's services.
"My relationship with the Yellow Jackets coaching staff is very good," Bailey said. "Every time I go down there to visit, it is always good. Every time I come with a smile and it really feels like home there. They are good people up there. Assistant coach Jeff Monken is recruiting me."
The Tigers are also high on Bailey's list and it may come down to the two rival schools.
"I went up to Clemson two weeks ago and I had a really good visit also. It felt good there too," he said. "This summer I plan on going up to Clemson and to Georgia Tech for visits and/or camps."
Bailey has not ruled out looking further away than the short distances between downtown Atlanta and Clemson. He is also not going to rush a decision and verbally commit before he is certain about his decision.
"Distance isn't really a factor to me because I'll go wherever, it really doesn't matter," he said. "I don't have a time frame on a decision right now. At one point, I thought I would make my decision in the summer, but now everything is coming at me so fast I just don't know."
Bailey who is currently 285 pounds and six-foot-four will close out spring practice at Loganville High School on Friday night.
"Our spring game is Friday," he said. "We are looking really good so far and we should be really strong. I think we will go really far, I mean we really have a solid team this year. My head coach plays a huge role in my recruiting. He lets me know what is going on, what coaches are coming to see me and he's there every step of the way."
