VIDEO: Players expect another war in rematch with KU
EAST LANSING - Spartan captain Travis Walton reserved the right to celebrate his team's win over Southern California at least until Michigan State's flight from Minneapolis touched down in Lansing on Sunday night.
But Walton and several of his teammates still managed to find time to talk about their upcoming match-up with No. 3 seed Kansas during post-game interviews.
Walton believes that the Big 12 champion Jayhawks will be motivated by revenge after being beaten soundly by Michigan State in January at the Breslin Center in East Lansing, Mich.
"Kansas has been playing great basketball," said Walton. "Last time we played them was kind of a lopsided victory. (Sherron) Collins has been playing great basketball and (Cole) Aldrich has been playing pretty good also. It is going to be a tough game. We have to come out there hungry and focused. It starts in practice."
Sherron Collins and Cole Aldrich had monster games in Kansas' second-round win over Dayton. Collins, who averages 18.7 points and 7 assists per game, scored 25 points and added 7 assists against a rugged Dayton team coached by former Izzo assistant Brian Gregory.
