Tulsa a tough matchup for the Tigers
If Auburn is to advance to the quarterfinals of the National Invitational Tournament, it will have to do it against a talented Tulsa squad, which appears to matchup well against the Tigers.
Tulsa (25-10), which beat Northwestern 68-59 in the first round, is led by 7-foot center Jerome Jordan. The junior from Kingston, Jamaica is averaging 14.1 points, 8.5 rebounds and 2.6 blocked shots.
"They've got a terrific inside player, Jordan. He's very good. He's got a chance to play professionally, I think, when he's done," AU head coach Jeff Lebo said. "He's got the shot-blocking ability of Varnado, but he's bigger, he's stronger, he's 240. He can really gobble up space in the post. He can score against double-teams. He's a good offensive rebounder.
"Everything that they do kind of runs through him."
The Golden Hurricane are also the nation's leader in 3-point percentage defense (.273).
