Auburn, Lebo make case for Big Dance
Is Auburn a NCAA Tournament bubble team?
Ask the so-called experts and you get a resounding no. But the Tigers made a case as one of the Top 65 teams in the country with a 69-53 win over No. 12 LSU at Beard-Eaves-Memorial Coliseum Saturday.
The win moves Auburn to 21-10 overall and 10-6 in the SEC, their best conference record since 1999.
AU head coach Jeff Lebo thinks AU's record, including wins in eight of their last SEC games, is more than enough to merit consideration for an at-large bid to the Big Dance.
"You can look at numbers all you want. The numbers, I don't think, certainly dictate how well our team is playing right now," Lebo said. "I'm not one to toot our own horn but I got too for these kids.
"The way we're playing right now
eight out of nine in this league, to say that we're not even in the mix is a complete slap in the face to our kids and to the Southeastern Conference, in my opinion."
The win over LSU is only AU's second over a Top 50 RPI team but the Tigers are the only team to beat both SEC Champion LSU and East Division Champion Tennessee this season.
