Tigers earn last-second win over Vols
It's not how Jeff Lebo drew it up but Auburn's head coach will take it.
With 10 seconds remaining, Auburn nearly turned the ball over on an in-bounds play but Tay Waller picked up the loose ball at midcourt, drove toward the lane and found a wide open Korvotney Barber for a layup.
"I have no idea how I was that open," Barber said. "I just saw the opening and I took it."
A desperation 3-pointer by J.P. Prince bounced off the rim to give the Tigers a 78-77 win over Tennessee at Beard-Eaves-Memorial Coliseum Saturday.
"We pulled it out there at the end against a good Tennessee team so a lot of plays were important but none more than that last play," Lebo said. "Tay was really under control. I was worried that he was going to take a quick one there and jack it up but he did a great job of finding Barber, just like he did in high school.
"It was a great win for our guys."
