Auburn looking to extend streak to five
Auburn hosts Alabama A&M Monday night looking to stretch its winning streak to five.
The visiting Bulldogs are 2-5 on the season with wins over Tennessee State and Tuskegee. They've suffered a couple of close losses including 64-56 at Alabama Dec. 2.
"We are playing another athletic team from the state so I think anytime you play teams from your own state, they certainly get excited to play you and play some of their best basketball against you," AU head coach Jeff Lebo said. "We fully expect a great showing from them."
Junior guard Trant Simpson paces Alabama A&M averaging 15.7 points and 4.1 assists per game. Junior guard Cornelius Hester averages 12.1 points while freshman forward Casey Cantey adds 11.1 points and 5.6 rebounds.
Auburn (7-4) closes out its pre-conference schedule this week with home games against SE Louisiana Wednesday and Tulane Saturday.
The Tigers' SEC opener is set for Saturday, Jan. 10 at South Carolina.
