Last year Illinois signed quarterback Jacob Charest out of Butler High School in North Carolina. One of Charest's former on-field rivals, 6-foot-3, 245-pound athlete Spencer Shuey from Charlotte (N.C.) South Mecklenburg, might follow the same path in less than two months.
