Brigham Harwell suits up one more time
Rick Kimbrel
BruinSportsReport.com When Bruin senior Brigham Harwell takes the field, he will be playing his last game as Bruin and though the team hasn't performed in terms of wins over his career that he would have liked, he never gave anything but his best. Harwell wore the Bruin uniform with dignity, played hurt and never complained.
Harwell chose UCLA over USC and Arizona State back when he was in high school in a hard fought recruiting battle one of the few that the Bruins won over USC over the last few years.
BruinBlitz.com had the pleasure of talking to the Bruin senior after Tuesday's practice.
BruinBlitz.com: Brigham tell me your emotions as you get ready to play your last game as a UCLA Bruin?
Harwell: "This probably the biggest game of my career, I believe, just for the fact that it is my last home game. It will be my last game as a college athlete. It is huge for me. I'm excited to go out to play in front of my family and friends and play with my teammates. We have grown to love each other so it is a big, big game for us."
BruinBlitz.com: Tell us about the growth of the defense. You guys have been absolutely stellar over the last month.
Harwell: "Yeah, I think right now we are hitting on cylinders so we are finally executing as a defense. The young guys are finally getting it and learning how to play defense in college ball. We are just playing on a high level right now and hopefully we will keep it moving through the USC game."
BruinBlitz.com:What does UCLA mean to you?
Harwell: "UCLA means so much to me. UCLA has been home to me. It has been another family. I bleed blue and gold. It has been a wonderful time here at UCLA. The environment, the coaching staff, the players, the staff, the equipment staff, everybody, the professors, the councilors, it has been an amazing road here. It is sad that is coming to an end, but with all beginnings there comes an end so I ready for my next challenge and beginning."
