Video: No speed limit for Lucas and Lucious
EAST LANSING - When Kalin Lucas arrived on campus the summer after his senior season at Orchard Lake St. Mary's he did so with the belief that if he worked hard enough and applied his God-given ability, he could carve out a significant role for himself as a true freshman.
The time March rolled around on Michigan State's 2007-2008 season, Lucas had become the top player on a Spartan team that advance to the Sweet Sixteen before falling in the NCAA tournament to national championship runner-up Memphis.
Lucas averaged 10.3 points per game as a true freshman last season and ranked fifth in assists in the Big Ten.
The former St. Mary's star made as big an impact for Michigan State as a true freshman as nearly any first-year player during the Izzo era.
