Fresh outlook for Burns
It's written all over his face. You can hear it in his voice and see it in the way he carries himself.
Kodi Burns is a changed man. A week after the firing of offensive coordinator Tony Franklin and fresh off his third career start, Burns has taken the reins as the starting quarterback as Auburn prepares for a road test next Thursday at West Virginia.
"It means a lot," Burns said. "It shows that they have confidence in me now and I know I can go out and actually play my game and I don't have to worry too much what's going to happen if I make a mistake.
"It's just a relief to know that I am the guy and, hopefully, that I can go out there and lead my team to victory."
Burns was clearly never Franklin's guy. Although he started the first game, Burns rotated series with Chris Todd in the opener, and watched as Todd started and played the majority of the next five games.
It's no coincidence that Burns started and played most of the game against Arkansas last Saturday just three days after Franklin was fired and Steve Ensminger was put in charge of the offense.
