Fannin is back at running back

Sure, Auburn's offense is in a funk and the Tigers are coming off a very disappointing loss at Vanderbilt. But Mario Fannin has at least one reason to be happy.

The sophomore is back at running back.

"It's great," Fannin said. "It's more natural for me."

Fannin played running back last season finishing with 448 yards and five touchdowns on 84 carries. His 67-yard touchdown run against New Mexico State was AU's longest play of the season.

But Fannin was moved to wide receiver after the arrival of offensive coordinator Tony Franklin in hopes of getting him the ball more with AU's top two running backs -- Ben Tate and Brad Lester -- returning. The move was also made to protect Fannin's shoulder after he separated it in spring practice and had surgery.

Fortunately, Fannin's shoulder has responded well this season.
