Croom preparing for Tech's wingbone
Sylvester Croom and the Mississippi State Bulldog defense will have to change gears this week facing the unorthodox offense of Georgia Tech.
The Yellow Jackets run a wingbone system that is a throwback to the pre-spread offenses that dominate college football today.
"We have a lot of work to get done," Croom said. "We're facing an offense that we haven't seen since I've been here and probably won't see anytime the rest of the year in that wingbone system they are running very efficiently at Tech. We're spending a lot of time on that and even having to spend extra time so our offense can give (the defense) a very good picture."
Georgia Tech is 2-1 on the year and averaging 368.67 yards and 25.67 points per game this season.
"Tech does a good job," Croom said. "They block real low, cut block guys and their splits are different. We want to make sure our defensive front and defense got as accurate a picture as we could possibly give them."
But defense did not seem to be the Bulldogs biggest problem last week in a 3-2 loss to Auburn. MSU held the No. 9 Tigers to their lowest point total since 2003 against Georgia Tech.
