Ohio ATH taking his time
Fostoria, Ohio athlete Micah Hyde has the luxury of sitting back and taking his time with the recruiting process, as several schools have already offered.
Hyde plans on using that time to study and wait for any new offers that might come in. There's one school in particular that he is hoping will offer, but he knows what he has to do for that to happen.
"The last camp I went to was at Michigan State and I did pretty good, actually," Hyde said. "Usually at the camps I'll play wide receiver but I played cornerback and did well.
"I talked to the coaches and then a couple of times after that. A week later they said they already had a couple of corners in mind and they have to sit down as a staff and see if they wanted another.
"Northwestern is another school I'm looking at. They said I just need to get a couple of points higher on the English part of the ACT. I'm going to re-take that in September and try to get that done."
So does the 6-foot-1, 170-pound prospect have any favorites?
"I know Northwestern is up there and Cincinnati is up there, just because they're in the Big Ten and the Big East.
"I'm most likely going to try to get more offers and wait it out. I'll take the ACT again and see what happens with Northwestern, so I'll probably take most of my visits."
Hyde holds offers from Cincinnati and several schools in the MAC, but he is not sure which position he will play when he gets to college.
"Only one school is recruiting me for quarterback and that's Toledo," he said. "Bowling Green, Cincinnati and Ohio are recruiting me for receiver and all the others are saying defensive back."
Hyde is ranked the No. 71 prospect in Ohio by Rivals.com.
