Georgia offers in-state 2010 DL
It is no secret that the University of Georgia prides themselves in keeping the top in-state talent home. They do not have to offer many out-of-state prospects year to year because of the talent they can recruit from their own backyard. They are still focusing on the class of 2009, but they have already extended an offer to arguably the top prospect in Georgia come 2010.
"I do have offers from Georgia and Clemson now," said Jeffrey Whitaker. "It feels great to have two great offers early and I just want to keep working to get more."
Georgia's Recruiting Coordinator Rodney Garner gave the Warner Robins native the big news over the phone.
"I had a message at the school to call Coach Garner, so I did and he told me that Georgia wanted to offer me a scholarship. He has seen me play before, so he likes me a lot."
"He told me that Georgia wanted to offer me, that he really wanted me up there, and that if I want to be a Dawg, then I can."
Coach Garner coaches the interior defensive line at UGA, so if the 6-foot-3, 295-pound defensive tackle signed with the Dawgs, then he would play under Coach Garner. The two already have a strong connection, so that could help Georgia as recruiting heats up.
