Behind the numbers: A look at UCLA
Before the BYU-Texas A&M contest Thursday night, the makeup of A&M's team suggested that if the Aggies were going to be beat the Cougars, they had to shut down BYU's three-point game and outrebound them.
In other words, unlike some of the teams that had beaten BYU this season, they had to attack the Cougars' strengths and beat them at their own game - never an easy matter in the NCAA tournament.
And although it wasn't easy, the Aggies outshot BYU from behind the arc and outrebounded them en route to a 57-52 victory.
Now their reward is a date with the West region's No. 1 seed UCLA, a team that defeated the Aggies in the regular season a year ago in a close game.
