Feeling somewhat slighted by their exclusion from the NCAA, star freshman James Harden said the Sun Devils came to play with a chip on their shoulder in the NIT opener versus Alabama State.

The Sun Devils opened up a big early lead and were ahead 39-21 at halftime before having a bit of a let down in the second staff. Still, ASU won 64-53 and the game was never closer than an eight point margin after the very early going.

Following the game, Harden and coach Herb Sendek talked about the win.
