KU headed to Omaha as the top seed
KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- For the second straight season, No. 5 ranked Kansas (31-3; 16-3) enters the NCAA Tournament as one of four top seeds. The Jayhawks, who defeated No. 6/8 Texas (28-6; 15-4) in Big 12 Tournament Final on Sunday, will face No. 16 seed Portland State on Thursday in Omaha, Neb. After the NCAA Selection Show, Bill Self spoke about KU's NCAA Tournament bid.
Kansas was awarded the top seed in the Midwest Region shortly after defeating Texas, 84-74. For the third straight year, the Jayhawks defeated the Longhorns in the Big 12 Tournament Championship.
