Tide rolls Auburn, 97-77
The Alabama basketball team took a month's worth of Southeastern Conference frustration out on Auburn Saturday, and the result was a 97-77 victory over its archrival at Coleman Coliseum.
A lineup change - Brandon Hollinger started at point guard - appeared to have little early impact. Once Hollinger got settled, however, he posted one of the most explosive offensive games of his career. He finished with 18 points, including six 3-pointers, and five assists.
Richard Hendrix delivered a team-high 20 as five UA players - Hendrix, Hollinger, Alonzo Gee, Mykal Riley and Rico Pickett - scored at least 16 each.
As a team, Alabama committed only four turnovers.
Free-throw shooting, a season-long weakness for Alabama, was no better in victory. UA finished 13 of 25 from the line.
LEBO - They shot us out of what we wanted to do defensively. we had some fast break turnovers. The live ball turnovers hurt us. If you throw it into the stands that's one thing.
They were awfully good shooting the ball. You're a good coach when you make those shots and a bad one when you miss them.
They're big - their guards are big up there. They played a little 1-2-2 that I hadn't seen a lot of.
PROWELL - hendrix came down with an elbow on top of me and it put me in a daze for a second.
