Tigers and Tide in key SEC matchup
Bryan Matthews
AuburnSports.com Auburn travels to Alabama Saturday in a key conference game for both SEC West schools.
Auburn (12-5, 2-2 SEC) is on a two-game SEC winning streak including last Saturday's upset of No. 18 Ole Miss at home. On the other hand, Alabama (11-8, 0-4) has yet to pick up a conference win with home losses to Florida and Mississippi State and road defeats at Arkansas and Georgia.
The Tigers enter the game with a lot of momentum including last year's sweep of the series, while the Tide has its back against the wall.
"It's a rival game; you want to beat your rivals. I think that brings out the best in everybody," said AU forward Frank Tolbert.
"They've had a lot of close games that they've lost, so they're better than their record is showing. They've had a lot of close games that they could have won that just slipped out of their hands. I still think they're a good team and they're going to give us a good shot when we go over there."
