Tigers host No. 18 Ole Miss Saturday
After picking up a much-needed SEC win at LSU Wednesday, Auburn head coach Jeff Lebo is hoping his Tigers will have a little more confidence as they host No. 18 Ole Miss Saturday.
"I think (the LSU win) gave us a little bit of momentum," said Lebo. "Anytime you win in this league, home or road, it's big."
Auburn (10-5, 1-2 SEC) will need that momentum against a Rebel squad that's off to a 15-1 start, their only loss coming 85-83 at Tennessee.
Ole Miss has a big inside presence with senior forwards Dwayne Curtis and Kenny Williams. The 6-foot-8, 262-pound Curtis, who transferred from Auburn two years ago, is averaging 15.2 points and 8.4 rebounds.
The 6-foot-8, 240-pound Williams, who signed a football scholarship with Auburn in 2003 before switching to basketball in high school, is averaging 8.6 points and 8.2 rebounds. The Rebels can also bring in 6-foot-8, 242-pound senior Jermey Parnell off the bench.
"They've got three inside players that are big, strong bulls that are experienced players," said Lebo.
The Rebels backcourt is led by freshman Chris Warren who is averaging 15.3 points and 5.4 assists.
