Tigers cruise to 68-59 win over Mercer
Four players scored in double figures led by Rasheem Barrett's 17 points as Auburn cruised to a 68-59 win over Mercer at Beard-Eaves Coliseum Wednesday night.
After making just 2-of-10 field goals in the first half, Barrett made 6-of-11 in the second, adding six rebounds, four steals, two assists and no turnovers in 33 minutes.
"Coach said keep shooting and it will come," said Barrett. "They're a pretty good team but we played pretty good defense to make up for the mistakes we made on offense and the turnovers."
Auburn shot just 43 percent from the field but had 10 steals and forced 19 Mercer turnovers, which AU converted into 19 points.
"Offensively, we didn't shoot the ball very well. That hurt us," said Lebo. "But our defense won the game.
"We played some zone but not as much as I anticipated because they were struggling against our man."
Auburn led by 18 points with three and a half minutes left but the Bears managed to cut it to nine. Auburn had 16 turnovers.
