Sapp stepping to prominence (Part 1)
November 27, 2007 - In Georgetown's fledgling 2007-2008 season, the Hoyas have been charged, to a man, by their coach John Thompson III with adjusting for the loss of first round National Basketball Association draft pick, Jeff Green. A constant refrain from Thompson is that adjusting to Green's departure is a learning experience for his players, lessons that are still being grasped.
One player whose play illustrates an acceptance of his coaches challenge is junior guard Jessie Sapp; his current 13.7 point, five assist, 4.7 rebound per game averages exceed last year's 9.1 point, 3.46 point, and four board marks across the board. That increased performance is even more impressive when the fact his stats so far are produced in 5.8 fewer minutes a contest (27 versus 32.8), is factored in.
