Huggs gets it done; Top 100 Jones signs
Bob Huggins signed his first Top 100 basketball prospect at West Virginia Wednesday, when Mount Vernon (N.Y.) High power forward Kevin Jones selected the Mountaineers over Pitt, Indiana and others.
Seated in a room in the high school whose program is ranked No. 4 in the New York City area by one poll, Jones made public his bid to join a Huggs class that also includes point guard Darrell Bryant and combo forward Roscoe Davis of Hargrave Military.
Like Jones, Bryant comes from an area where the Mountaineers have failed to go since the Gale Catlett (1978-2002) era. Catlett coached Lowes Moore, a Mount Vernon grad who was drafted in 1980 by the New Jersey Nets.
