Spieker a model of consistency
Fans in Columbia will say goodbye to 20 seniors on Saturday afternoon. Many may have left a bigger impression on the home crowds, but not one in the group has been so much a fixture on Faurot Field as Adam Spieker. This weekend's game against Texas A&M will mark the 46th consecutive game that Spieker has sent the ball back to a Tiger quarterback from his center spot.
Spieker signed with Missouri out of Webb City High School in the Class of 2003. He took a redshirt season that fall, waiting behind incumbent A.J. Ricker. Spieker started the 2004 season opener against Arkansas State, and he's been out there ever since.
In fact, if he remains healthy for the rest of this year, Spieker will set the all-time record for starts at Mizzou with at least 49.
"I really don't think about it too much," Spieker said. "It doesn't feel like it's been that many games really. If it happens, it would be something nice."
