Goulbourne talks about his decision
It was in late July of last year when a relative unknown prospect from Brooklyn (NY), Lance Goulbourne, made a big impression on the Vanderbilt basketball staff while playing at the Reebok Big Time Tournament in Las Vegas.
While the Commodore staff was on hand to watch his then New Heights AAU teammate Josh Owens in action, the group was also able to catch a early eye on the 6-foot-7, 215-pound Goulbourne and soon after, the staff extended the small forward his first major college scholarship offer.
Now, after more than 15 months later, Goulbourne pulled the trigger on the offer and announced to the world that he was ready to be a Commodore.
Eventually rated by Rivals.com as a solid Rivals150 prospect, Goulbourne would garner offers from a ton of other high-major programs including Virginia, West Virginia, Marquette, Michigan, Seton Hall, Miami (Fla.), Rutgers, Northwestern and others before deciding to take officials to VU, Virginia and Marquette.
