Lecorn, Brown Latest To Get Their Chance

GamecockCentral.com Steve Spurrier truly believes players earn the right to be on the football field.
His message to recruits is simple: you will get an opportunity to play, but no promises.
The latest beneficiaries of Spurrier's fondness for 'tryouts' - the term he used during his weekly press conference Tuesday afternoon - are true freshman wide receiver Dion Lecorn and redshirt freshman offensive lineman Seaver Brown.
Both players will make their first career starts Saturday when South Carolina faces Mississippi State (3-1, 1-1) at Williams-Brice Stadium in a pivotal SEC contest that starts a key four-game stretch for the Gamecocks.
Lecorn, a 5-foot-11, 217-pounder from Ocala, Fla., is being given a chance because the wide receivers previously in front of him on the depth chart have failed to produce to Spurrier's satisfaction.
