Slaughter trying to earn spot in WR rotation
Auburn wide receiver coach Greg Knox says he's looking for six receivers to be an important part of the playing rotation when the Tigers open the season against Kansas State on Sept. 1.
So far, Knox says he has five who he feels are ready for primetime action. As for the sixth spot, it's still up for grabs and freshman Chris Slaughter is hoping to nab it.
"I still feel that (I'll play)," said Slaughter. "I just have to learn the plays. (Coach Knox) throwing me in a lot right now. I have to grow up. When he throws me in there, I have to make some plays."
Knox likes the potential he sees in Slaughter but admits he's still a little lost out there after reporting a week after the start of two-a-days.
