Vols In Mix for Former Clemson Commit
In many cases, the next few weeks are the final opportunity for college basketball coaches to identify and target rising senior prospects that they plan to seriously turn up the heat on in the fall. If you're not in the mix by the end of the summer, then generally speaking, you're not going to be in the mix at all.
Along those lines, one of the newest faces on Tennessee's recruiting board, and a player the Vols hope to leave the summer with a legitimate shot of landing, is Savannah, Ga. guard Cashmere Wright.
A one-time Clemson commitment, Wright (6-foot-0, 170) opened things back up in his recruitment just last week after initially giving the Tigers a verbal in February.
Tennessee was one of many schools that showed early interest in Wright, but like everyone else, wrote him off when he pledged to the Tigers. The Vols were more than interested though when it became clear that Wright was back in play on the recruiting trail.
Tennessee is hardly alone in trying to elbow its way onto Wright's short list of schools. He's not yet come out with a firm top-five since de-committing, and admits that doing so is going to be a tough task with all the new suitors trying to get into the picture.
A few of the new schools making a hard run at Wright along with Tennessee are Cincinnati, Florida State and Kansas State. Wright added that Clemson was still an option, but seldom does a player 'de-commit' only to end up back with his original school of choice.
