NCAA watches as media guides are released
It's about this time of year that printing presses all over the country are humming to the sounds of college football.
That's right; it's media guide time.
University of Arizona sports information director (SID) Tom Duddleston was cooling his heels the other day, fresh off orchestrating yet another catalog of heights, weights and records.
However, media guides have come a long way from the days of a simple brochure that easily fit in the back pocket of your Levis. Before the NCAA stepped in a couple of years ago, the "media guides" had swelled to over 500 pages and required a 25-mule team to haul it up to the press box.
