Vegas Star in the Making
With the release of the latest Rivals rankings for the 2009 class, one intriguing prospect to watch out for is Elijah Johnson, ranked 30th overall. Tabbed as one of the premier guard prospects in all of the west coast, the 6-foot-2 170-pound point guard out of Las Vegas is already a known commodity around recruiting circles with his incredible play through his sophomore year.
Despite being just a sophomore guard from the 2009 class, Johnson has seen nationwide recruiting attention playing for the Houston Hoops traveling team this spring. While Johnson would've preferred to play with local talent including Anthony Marshall and Luke Babbitt of the Las Vegas Prospects, Johnson has grown into his Hoops teammates. "I think we're one of the top teams in the country right now. We won some big games at the Spring Showcase and Easter Classic tournaments. The Hoops won the Main Event last year too," said Johnson. An added benefit of living in Las Vegas is the close proximity to many of the spring and summer tournaments which are held in his backyard.
