Hamga awaits approval, plans Kentucky visit
Illinois 7-footer Beas Hamga is awaiting confirmation from the NCAA Clearinghouse on his eligibility to reclassify for 2007 and is currently working on plans for an official visit to Kentucky.
"It seems to be going well," said Mark Adams, who serves a dual role as Hamga's legal guardian and AAU coach. "He's in the Clearinghouse now, so that's moving forward. He just needs approval on his work from Cameroon, but we expect that to happen. He's got the grades. He's got the test score. And there's a good track record for kids from Cameroon getting their transcripts from home approved, so we're optimistic. We should know of that decision in the next 10 days."
In the meantime, Hamga is scrambling to get his official visits made. He is currently considering UK, UNLV, New Mexico and Indiana.
